Harry

You were the force and the tenderness,
The beauty and the speed,
The monument and the arrow.

You were my student and my teacher,
Trusting and witty – and so funny.
You were my love, peace, freedom and perspective,
It felt wonderful leaning against you, flying on you.

You carried me a long way in a short time,
I thank you for that.
I am thanking you for all the good friends you brought with you
and I look forward to meeting you again.

 Rest well and in peace.

...Harry broke his shoulder in a freek pasture accident, there was nothing the Vet. could do for him, and he was humanely put to sleep, Saturday 26 July 2003. He was in his stall at the end, he whinnied goodbye to the other horses and they all whinnied in reply. We sat with him in the straw and said our goodbyes, as the Vet did his work...We miss him still...
